Had a bad experience at this hotel
Had a bad experience at this hotel, which was raised with reception after the first night, but nothing was done to rectify issues, so after two nights stay I can safely say we won’t be returning. Complete lack of customer service and waste of money.

My partner and I checked in as visiting Edinburgh for a couple of days for business and leisure. After trying to check-in via the app for a few days prior, it seems I sort of half checked in. I was able to get the key on my phone app, but also wasn’t able to check-in via the iPad at the desk. After waiting for the receptionist to be available, she laughed and said the app doesn’t really work anyway and then checked jn and sorted the key cards.

The room was decent enough, pretty basic but okay, however, the shower had quite a lot of black mould. Bed not hugely comfy and pillows not great.

After our first night stay we put a sign on the door to ‘come in’ and clean the room, and also put the sign to change the dirty towels which we left on the bathroom floor so they could be identified.

We popped down to breakfast at 9.05am, and were shown a table no problem. At 9.15am, a man walked around to inform tables they had to be gone by 9.30am on the dot as they had an external event that needed to be ready by 9.45am. The intended relaxing morning became rushed.

After being out all day and returning at 5pm, I walked into the bathroom and the towels were still on the floor. Someone had been in as the signs had been returned to the room, and the bed had been ‘made’, by which I mean the duvet thrown over the bed and rolled at the too slightly. The bottom sheet wasn’t tucked in and was a mess.

There are no phones in the room, they encourage you to use the Live Chat service on the app. After a few minutes talking to a robot who couldn’t understand my complaint, I got out through to someone I assume was on the reception desk.

I explained the following:
- Towels not changed (urgently needed as heading out at 6pm)
- Attempt of bed making was terrible
- Black mould In shower
All the above backed up
With photographs.

The receptionists replied to say sorry, and they’re shocked by this and will speak to housekeeping. After some time, I had to reply and urgently ask for the towels to be delivered to us. When housekeeping arrived, he explained they hadn’t had a delivery of linen that morning and could only provide large towels (fine by us).

After going out for an evening of celebration, we returned at 10pm to find that the bed still hadn’t been made. After getting back on the app, I got back through to reception who apologised and said it was too late now and that the General Manager would be waiting for me in the morning. I requested some softer pillows too, which made the sleep slightly better than the night before.

I’ve just walked down at 10.45 on the check-out day to an empty reception desk. There are iPads to check-out with, and a key drop box, however I was expecting to speak to the GM. I asked a lady (perhaps cleaner?) near the desk and said I wanted to check-out if there was anyone I could speak to. She went round the back and came back out to tell me to just leave the cards on the side.

As mentioned above, this hotel completely lacks any form of customer service, face-to-face hospitality and despite being given several opportunities to rectify the issues, nothing was done. A complete waste of money, which is much rather have spent somewhere else where I felt my custom was appreciated.

so impressed, over and above service (including VWorks).

Recently stayed at the warrington one, which also included a VWorks working the next day too. Room was amazing, service was so friendly & warm, and the VWorks experience was really awesome guys. So impressed and really good value for money too.

Our stay at the Village Hotel in Cardiff was attroticous and the customer service is even worse
Our stay at the Village Hotel in Cardiff was dreadful. First, the tv in our room didn't work. We wanted to stay and eat/drink in our room since there was a football match being shown on tv. We were moved into a new room, where the bedsheets were ripped, tv was wonky and the shower didn't work. The cocktail bar was out of mixers. Food was fine.

The noise was dreadful. Despite signs up declaring a quiet zone, nothing was done to enforce this and there were people shouting in the carpark and outside the rooms, running up and down the corridor banging on doors. We barely got any sleep.

Worst of all, I emailed the hotel to ask if there was some sort of refund policy. I was ignored. I emailed again and was told someone would be in touch. They were not. I emailed again, and once more was ignored. I emailed AGAIN, and was told someone would be in touch. And they have never gotten back to me.

The stay was a disaster but it's their attitude to completely ignoring the emails that have totally made me want to tell everyone what a terrible company this is.

Avoid village hotels
Terrible service, unpleasant staff, poor booking website and Warrington hotel is dirty both in the bar area and the rooms.

Lack of customer service
I subscribe for a year gym member in Bracknell. But for personal reasons, I have to cancel the membership, so I gave them notice 9 June, and based on their policy has to be a 30 days, so after having several calls, changed email, they just didnt care and took the notice period from July, not happy with that, I cant use the gym in July even I am paying for it. That is what I call abuse, lack of empathy and customer service.

Poor checkin staff performance
Automated Checkin did not work, it then directs you call a member of staff, but no bell, buzzer, phone number, or any means to contact reception staff. No staff members present and it took several bar and restaurant staff to try and find the front of house staff , but without luck. Eventually some just appeared, 30mins later.
No food available after 21.30.
All in all a very poorly run hotel and I would not stay or recommend.

Village Hotel at Castlegate Dudley don’t bother going there
Village Hotel at Castlegate Dudley. Stayed as a gift one month ago. Although the gift included gym access we still had to pay £5. We paid for breakfast £10 each which wasnt very good, plus there was a hick up as they had only put us down for 1.
Stayed last night 18th. Terrible as all of the electricity went off for almost an hour. Children crying around the pool. One disabled woman stuck in her room as no lift working. No food. No showers etc. You would think that a big company like this would have a generator.
Be wary of the bill as you will be charged extra at the end for tax. Our gift giver for the first stay was shocked to see an extra £15 taken out of their bank. And i received an email today charging an extra £17 for tax, which doesn’t appear on the bill. Never again!!!

I have had a number of poor experiences…
I have had a number of poor experiences withe the Village brand from Hotel to Gym. This experience is specifically to the Hotel.
I made a reservation using a voucher, unfortunately the booking was made on the wrong date, on arrival the staff were unable and unwilling to help sort the mistake out. Directing me to the company the voucher was issued to. Unfortunately the company was closed. Despite this and now being stranded in Birmingham with no overnight accommodation the staff were unwilling to help. Claiming they could not cancel the booking or move the booking. When i tried to re book i was informed there were no rooms available despite the web site saying different.
When i requested to speak with a manger i was refused.
I latter logged into the web site from the car park and made a booking, strange as i was told no rooms were available.
There was no assistance, no help from the staff, even thought i told them i was on my own and they could see i had 2 Yong children aged 1 and 2. There was a deliberate block on speaking to management and a lie that there were no alternative rooms available.
I have complained to the Village 2 weeks ago and heard nothing back, however this is the trend having complained about the Gym and access to the gym for members during private events. I have never received any response from the village and dont expect to. Nether should any customer.

Bracknell hotel- not recommended
I would steer clear of the Bracknell hotel if you are a family and stay away from the restaurant full stop if I were you.

Inflexible, Unhelpful and Dismissive
One might have thought that having paid for two nights (personal) accommodation THREE MONTHES IN ADVANCE I could have made a minor date change 11 weeks before. Absolutely not.
I have wasted a lot of money.
The CEO of the Group has not bothered to respond to my correspondence.
This company (unknowingly) has lost a lot of revenue as it is now off my company's list of preferred accommodation providers.

I stayed for 2 nights at the Blackpool…
I stayed for 2 nights at the Blackpool hotel.
It’s definitely a little dated and could do with modernising, however staff were really helpful and we had good service throughout. The room was clean and comfortable but very warm, they definitely need to install some air con! We also had a room near some kind of boiler/machine and so with the window open due to the heat it was a bit noisy. Breakfast was average, we ate in the restaurant for dinner but it is definitely more of a bar, had really loud music on and very busy but we did stay over the weekend. Overall I think good value for money for just a basic stay but it’s not somewhere I’d seek out to return to.

James minto
I’ve been a member of the gym for nearly a year and a few members of staff in the gym are so unprofessional and rude I’ve had many experiences were I’ve felt unwelcome in the village gym one example is my shoes got stolen and expensive pair of shoes. I told James minto and Jamie March and they thought it would be funny to make a joke and say did you mate steal them I find this disgusting the way I was treated especially considering I am a young adult by asking for assistance regarding my stolen shoes I’ve had further issues it has lead to certain members of staff treating me with disrespect. I came into the gym one day after the shoe issue I asked for my card back as they don’t have locks in the locker room I always use a lock due to my shoes being taken but the member of staff wasn’t bothered by this. 5 minutes later James minto approached me and asked to speak to me apparently I was being rude to a member of staff which James minto was not present for I didn’t agree with his views and he walked off in anger and said ‘fine then’ the next day (28th may) I came into the gym a £49.50 gym membership charge was added to my account even though the money came out of my account on the 1st of may which I proved the transaction to a staff member an additional £5 and £2.5 charge was added for a lock and a card I returned the lock the previous day due to the incompetence of the staff my card was behind the desk because they have a policy where you leave your card as a deposit for a lock and conveniently my had gone missing this took at least 10 minutes of my time due to a very childish member of staff who goes by the name of James minto I would like to make a suggestion due to the gym prices being high compared to other gyms the locks should be included especially because of my shoes being stolen I would’ve thought the staff would have been more helpful knowing my shoes had been stolen showing nothing but disrespect

MANCHESTER HYDE HOTEL
*URGENT* please do not give your card details at reception to hold your bank details at this hotel!!! I stayed at Manchester Hyde Hotel last weekend and was asked to verify my card this was for additional spending during my stay. After returning home I found that they had taken over £200 out of my bank account without me knowing!! Apparently they don't know what's happened, I can't get in contact with anyone from Vilage to get my money back. Each time I call the mangers out or thees only one person in the company that can look into this but there on annual leave lol - what a scam company hotel

Reported to bank as fraudulent transaction
